On Friday night, Nov. 11, at 9 p.m., Mitra Sumara will be playing a post-Election Day blow-off-steam dance party at Nublu, 62 Ave. C in the East Village of Manhattan. More info here.
For now, keep your mind on the election, and be sure to vote on Tuesday. And after the results come in, no matter how it shakes out, come out and dance to two full sets of vibrant, rhythmic music by New York's premier pre-revolutionary psychedelic Farsi fiunk band, Mitra Sumara. We'll be playing songs from 1960s and '70s Iran, and Yvette will be keening those tunes in the original Farsi.
We'll be ready to make this a fervent evening. Come out and join us. Yvette on vocals, Peter Zummo on trombone, Bill Ruyle on hammer dulcimer, Julian Maile on guitar, Kaveh Haghtalab on drums, Sam Kulik on bass and Jim Duffy on keys.
See you there!
