I'm honored to announce that I will be performing this Saturday evening, Oct. 22, at 8:30 p.m. with the Karl Berger Improvisers Orchestra. This is a 20-plus-piece orchestra of some of the finest improvisers in the New York area, under the direction of Karl Berger.
In September I was fortunate enough to participate in Karl Berger's Creative Music Studio, a five-day, intensive, hands-on, learn-by-doing workshop that gets down to the most basic elements of music - sound, vibration, time, dynamics and tone. While at the workshop, I met some extraordinary players and singers who are exploring music through Karl Berger's "music mind" approach.
When Karl invited me to perform with the Improvisers Orchestra, I jumped at the chance. This Saturday evening, Oct. 22, at El Taller, a cultural center at 215 E. 99th St. in Manhattan, the Improvisers Orchestra will have an open rehearsal at 7 p.m. and then a full performance at 8:30. Admission is $15. I hope you will come out an experience this unique night of full, lush, orchestrated improvisation. It's unlike anything you have ever heard, and it's different every time.
